September 4 year olds

We have had an awesome week this last week at school! We were able to go on our first field trip to the Apple Orchard! The kids had a lot of fun picking apples! Thank you so much to all of you parents who are willing to go on these field trips and help me drive them. I appreciate it so much!

We learned the letter Bb. We practiced writing it on a board. We have now learned the letters Aa and Bb. Please have them practice writing them as much as they can. Have them start at the top of the paper. We have also been practicing writing our names with a capital letter first and the rest lower case letter. Please have them practice writing that at home also.

For snacks this last week we had teddy bear crackers, and Honey graham crackers with frosting in the middle that we frosted ourselves.....because bears like Honey! We also had donuts and apple juice after the apple orchard.

We made and decorated Bees out of paper for the letter B. We are making an alphabet book. I will keep the papers here and when we are finished with all of the alphabet they will bring the alphabet book home.

We made a Brown Bear story necklace. Please have the kids read you their book. They know the colors and the animals so they should be able to read it to you.....Brown bear brown bear what do you see? I see a Red Bird looking at me. Red bird Red bird what do you see....?

We have been learning to cut with scissors. I put a smiley face with a marker on their thumb nail. They need to see the smiley face while they cut. Some of the kids are catching on fast. Some of the kids still cut upside down. Please help your kids practice cutting at home. We are cutting straight lines and circles and wavy lines. If we practice cutting all year, they will be able to cut so good at the end of the year. In kindergarten they cut out a LOT of things. So they need to learn how to cut.

We went on a bear hunt on Thursday. Everyone brought teddy bears and we took them with us on our bear hunt. We used toilet paper rolls as our telescopes to see what we needed to go through to get to the bears cave.We went through tall grass, swam through a river, went through mud, went through a forest, and went through a snowstorm. The cave was the trampoline with sleeping bags and blankets on top of it! We tiptoed in the cave and found the bear and ran as fast as we could all of the way through the river, grass, mud, forest, and snowstorm back into the classroom. We found out that the bear was sad because he just wanted to play with us. So we let him in the classroom to join us in school. We talked about how important it is to be nice to everyone no matter what they look like, even if they are a bear!

Like I said it was a fun week! We are learning a lot. Your kids are amazing!

Apple Orchard Field Trip

The Apple Orchard is Tomorrow!!! There will be two times that we go. All three classes are going, so I will let you choose which time you want to go. We will be going 9:00-11:00 or 11:15 am. Also 11:45-1:45. The 3 year olds time is the 11:45-1:45 but if any of the four year old classes want to go in the afternoon they are welcome to go to that one also. I'm sorry this is short notice! The owner is letting us come to let the preschoolers pick a few apples in their bags before she opens it up to the public on Saturday. I wish that we could pick also, but it will just be the kids picking. Any parents are welcome to go, but we will need to carpool because there is not a whole lot of parking there. We will go pick some apples and of course take some pictures. We will also be having treats and drinks there. I will provide them. We will be having donuts and apple juice.

Please let me know which time your child will be attending. You can text me or email me, or facebook message me. I just don't want anybody to get left behind.

Please have your child bring a plastic bag and a jacket in case it is cold.

Thanks so much and I will see you tomorrow!!!

Second week of Four year old class

This last week was a lot of fun again! We learned all about the letter Aa. The color red and the number 1. We practiced writing the letter Aa and the number 1. We also practiced writing our names. Please practice writing these at home a  with your kids. The more you practice with them the easier it will be for them to learn it. We also cut out circles and teeth and the letter Aa for our letter A alligator that we made.  They are learning to use scissors and hold them correctly. We put a smiley face on their thumbs so that they can see it as they cut the paper to help them cut correctly and hold their hands correctly. We read lots of fun apple books and played apple games. We taste tested lots of different kinds of apples. And we graphed how many kids liked all of the apples or if they only liked certain ones. There were a few that didnt like the "sour apples." Some liked the pink apples. Some liked the green apples. Some liked the red apples. Thank you so much for sending apples with your kids!

I will call the apples orchard again on Monday. Hopefully we are able to go to the apple orchard this week! I will let you know as soon as I find out!

Afternoon class

The afternoon class was able to go to the Homecoming parade last week. They were so excited! And got lots of candy!  We had a lot of fun!

We had such a fun first week of school! It was loaded with activities of getting to know each other by learning each others names and what they like to do and play with. Thank you for sending your kids with lots of fun things to talk bout themselves! We read the kissing hand book and learned that a raccoon was scared to go to school at first, but then his mom kissed his hand and told him that whenever he was scared to put his hand to his cheek and remember that his mom loved him. So if your kids came home and kissed your hand and gave you a heart, just remember that your kids love you while they are at school!

I only was able to do half of the assessments this last week. I will try to finish them this week. This week we are starting off the alphabet.  We will be learning a new letter each week. Please help them learn about different things at home that start with the letter that we are learning each week to help them with the sound of the letter. We will be writing the upper and lower case letters. So also, please practice writing them at home also.

We are learning about apples this week! We have lots of fun activities to learn about the letter Aa and he color Red and counting apples. We will be taste testing different apples this week seeing which ones are sour and which ones are sweet! If everyone could bring one apple this week in the four year old classes on Friday that would be great. Lets see how many different ones we can get! There are Gala, Red delicious, golden delicious, fuji, pink lady, sweet 16....ect. If you want to text me and let me know what kind you are bringing, then I know there will be a variety! Thank you in advance!

The apple orchard said that the apples are still not ready this week and to call her again next Monday. Hopefully we will be going to the apple orchard the end of this month!

Thank you all again for letting me teach your children! I have so much fun with them! They are all great kids!
